Cambodia Challenge 2010
Raise funds for War Child Australia and travel to Cambodia

Raise funds, see a war-affected country, have the time of your life!

In partnership with Inspired Adventures, War Child Australia is delighted to offer the Cambodia Challenge 2010. This challenges you to raise funds for War Child, and travel to Cambodia to see first hand some of the effects of war and genocide on communities.

We are giving 25 people the opportunity to join this incredible tour of Cambodia in support of War Child Australia – an adventure of a lifetime! Places are limited and based on a first come first served basis.

Participants will cycle through stunning Cambodian countryside, visit the magnificent Angkor Wat and spend three days helping children at two orphanages with cooking classes, art classes, playing Khmer games and teaching English.

You will be required to raise a minimum of $6,900 to participate in the challenge. This money is donated to War Child Australia once expenses are deducted (approximately half of monies raised goes to War Child Australia).

This challenge will give participants an insight into the specific impacts of war on children, and a strengthened understanding of the importance of working with children and rebuilding communities after war.

For details about the trip, or to register, please visit www.inspiredadventures.com.au/warchild2010 or contact Belinda Shillcock on belinda@inspiredadventures.com.au  or 02 9262 7882.

Will I see a War Child project in Cambodia?

No. War Child is not active in Cambodia. The locations in which War Child operates - such as Northern Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa, and Iraq and Afghanistan in the Middle East - are typically not safe for travel. Also, they are geographically much further away, which would add substantially to the costs of the trip. Cambodia has been selected because of its relative proximity to Australia, and its history of war and genocide which allows trip participants to gain an understanding of the impact of war.

As a participant, you will visit the Toule Sieng Genocide Museum and the Killing Field Memorial in Phnonm Penh, and also two orphanages. Through these activities, you will gain insight into the specific impacts of war on children, and a strengthened understanding of the importance of working with children and rebuilding communities after war. This will help you further appreciate War Child's work. And of course, through your fundraising, you will be contributing directly to our work.

You will also undertake an incredible personal challenge, and see and appreciate the beauty of Cambodia and its people. Together with your fellow travellers, you will have the trip of a lifetime!

Places are limited. Register today!
